about
Bill Dowling had this great idea for a song about the drive and passion of Olympic athletes. We wrote it and it became the theme for the 2014 Manitoba Powersmart Winter Games. Kenny Byrka did such an amazing job of producing a recording that we decided to make it available and donate all the profits toward developing young athletes.
Well he’s only eight, he’s dreamin’ ‘bout the NHL
He’s on the back yard rink, fingers frozen and skatin’ like, well, well, well
Now it’s second overtime and he’s on a break away
Here comes Mom, what can you say, give me
Ten more minutes I can get the win
Ten more minutes to fire the puck in
Ten more minutes yeah, it’s freezing cold, just give me
Ten more minutes Mom I’m going for gold
She’s at the top of the hill just starin’ down that run
She’s dreamin’ three gold medals all gleamin’ in the sun
Now the horn is blowin’ and she’s out the gate
Dad’s at the bottom “Come on, it’s getting’ late!” Give me
Ten more minutes on this hill, give me
Ten more minutes without a spill, give me
Ten more minutes on my brand new skis, give me
Ten more minutes Dad, that’s all I need
I get a little better every day
One day the whole world’s gonna watch me play, give me
Ten more minutes
Give me ten more minutes
From way up at 60 right down to the 49th
The Saskatchewan border over to the Ontario line
These Manitoba kids got what it takes
There just ain’t enough hours in a winters’ day, give me
Ten more minutes, that’s all I need
Give me ten more minutes, just watch and see
Give me ten more minutes, yeah I know it’s cold
Just give me ten more minutes Mom I’m goin’ for gold
Ten More minutes
Ten more minutes
